WHAT KIND OF LODGING CAN I EXPECT?

Most of  our trekking trips feature first class accommodations in larger cities and towns. Generally, these hotels offer amenities like room service, laundry, etc. We try to find accommodations close to local points of interest, unique shops and colorful markets. While trekking we arrange tea houses (Everest Base Camp) or tents (Ladakh).

CAN I REQUEST SINGLE ACCOMMODATION

All accommodations are based on double occupancy. If you are traveling solo and wish to share accommodations, we will pair you with another traveler. If you prefer single accommodations, we will do our best to arrange it, however, there are some situations where it may not be possible. If you request single accommodations or a roommate cannot be assigned, you will be responsible for paying the single supplement fee listed on the application.

HOW PHYSICALLY FIT DO I HAVE TO BE TO PARTICIPATE?

Most of our trips are physically demanding, and your ability to enjoy the adventure depends on your health and fitness. Your trip will be more rewarding if you prepare for it by conditioning properly well in advance. We believe that the best form of training is simulating the activity you are training for, and then increasing the level of exertion as the routine becomes easier. Begin your daily training several months prior to your trip. If you have questions, contact Mohan to discuss how best to help you prepare for your trek, course, or climb. We hold training wkends pre departure to help the team get to know each other, to help in your fitness training, and to assess everyone's fitness.

What about security during trekking?

Security of our clients is the foremost important for us. All our guides and other support crew are carefully chosen for your trips. Our guides hold licenses issued by the Nepal Government. But we would also advise you to take care of your own personal belongings. You are on ‘campingtrek’ please do not leave your bags unattended at any time for your own safety. Take your main bag inside the tent once you reach campsite. At night, put all bags and belongings in the middle of the tent. Your guide assigns a Sherpa on turn wise basis to guard the campsite throughout the night. If you are on ‘Tea house arrangement, you will be sleeping in local tea house. You have to take sensible precautions yourself at all times. Never leave your baggage unattended and keep your lodge room locked when you go out.

How to get safe drinking water on the trek?

On camping trek, our staff will boil and cook meals treated by potassium permanganate or iodine. On trek, you will be able to buy safe hot drinks in the tea house. We recommend you to bring water purification pills. On the trail, water from the streams is safe if away from settlements.

How should I dress during a trek?

The clothing you bring will need to allow for both warm days and the chill of the nights. While trekking during the day at lower altitudes, lightweight trekking trousers and T-shirts are recommended. It's always a good idea to carry a waterproof jacket and some warmer clothing with you though as mountain weather is notoriously unpredictable. For the cold nights, thermal underwear, a warm fleece jacket and even a down jacket will help to keep you warm.

WHAT IF I WANT TO ARRIVE EARLIER OR DEPART LATER THAN THE TRIP DATES?

we are happy to help you arrange accommodations before and after your trip. Our area directors can recommend side excursions and restaurants for the extra time.

WHO WILL BE PICKING ME UP AND WHERE?

CAN YOU ACCOMMODATE A VEGETARIAN DIET?

All of the meals served on trekking trips are a combination of the best local and regional fares along with some specialty items brought from the village. Your guide or your personal cooks are happy to accommodate dietary restrictions. In major towns, our groups usually sample regional dishes in the local restaurants.

WHAT IF SOMEONE ON MY GROUP TEAM GETS SICK,

WILL I HAVE TO DESCEND/LOSE MY SUMMIT OPPORTUNITY?

For all of our treks, participants must remember that they are part of a team and that the well-being of everyone on the team is more important than any one individual reaching the summit. If the entire group is required to get a team member down, they will be called upon to assist the guides and staff. However, we have a high success in past experience, because we often hire skilled local guides to assist on summit days, decreasing the client to guide ratio. This offers additional staff often increases everyone's chance for success.

WHAT IF SOMEONE ON MY TRIP FEELS SICK OR WANTS TO STOP?

During a trek, if someone becomes ill or feels that they do not wish to go any farther, the guides decide whether the person requires an escort for descent (by a local staff or assistant guide) or if he or she can stay put until the group returns.

Pre - Meeting Before Trip

We have several meetings before our Himalayan Tours - Q & A evenings and training days, where the group can get to know us and each other, and where people can ask any questions they have about the tour.

Meals During the trek:

All Meals will be provided during the time spent on trekking. Choices of Nepali, Sherpa, Tibetan, Continental, Italian and Indian cuisine are available from most eateries, hotels and trekhouses. On camping trips all food is supplied as per set menu in advance and vegetarian as well as non-vegetarian options will be provided.

Trekking Staff:

The Guide is in overall charge of your trip and of looking after you. This is the person you should go to with all problems, concerns and questions. All our guides are highly trained in all aspects of trekking, conservation, and high altitude medicine, first aid and emergency procedures. They are professionals selected for their knowledge and passion for the chosen area and its peoples.

Acceptance of risk:

The Client acknowledges that the nature of the tour is adventurous and may involve a significant amount of personal risk. The Client hereby assumes all such risk and does hereby release the Company from all claims and causes of action arising from any damages of injuries resulting from these inherent risks.

INSURANCE:

It is mandatory that all Clients obtain travel insurance while travelling with us and this insurance must cover personal injury, medical expenses, repatriation expenses and emergency evacuation expenses. It is strongly recommended the coverage be extended to include cancellation, curtailment, loss of belongings and all other expenses, which might arise as a result of loss, damage, injury, delay or inconvenience occurring to the Client.

Climate:

Nepal has a generally temperate climate, however altitude makes distinct variations.

The monsoon sweeps up from India each summer, making mid June to mid September humid and wet. The three other distinct seasons are all suitable for trekking and each has its own advantages. Changing global weather patterns have had their effect on the Himalayan climate making mountain weather notoriously changeable. Always be prepared for a change in conditions and note that if severe or dangerous weather conditions occur your guide’s decision on any course of action is final.

Autumn (September – November): This season offers excellent weather and tantalizing mountain views.

Health:

There are no specific health requirements for entry into Nepal. Nevertheless, preventive measures such as a thorough medical check up can save you from unexpected hazards. Nepal does not require any particular inoculation but Cholera, Meningitis, Tetanus and Diphtheria, Typhoid and Gamma Globulin are some of the vaccinations that should be considered for your trip. Since the remote places of Nepal are not supplied with necessities that are essential for modern medical facilities, it is imperative to make a comprehensive First Aid Box consisting of basic drugs and accessories as part of the paraphernalia for your trip. Modern dentistry is unknown in the hills of Nepal, so it is advised to have a checkup before departure from home. Tooth fillings sometimes loosen in cold temperature and at high altitudes, so it is recommended having them checked

Altitude Sickness:

Altitude sickness often known as Acute Mountain Sickness (AMS) is particularly an important medical consideration while trekking in Nepal. Altitude sickness means the effect of altitude on those who ascend too rapidly to elevation above 3000 meters. Symptons include nausea, vomiting, headaches and feeling faint. These symptoms are to be taken very seriously. In case of appearance of any of the above symptoms, immediately contact your travel guide and they will take action based on the severity of your symts.

Client Details:

In order for the Company to confirm and guarantee the Client’s travel arrangements the Client must provide all Client details with their first deposit - passport copy + completed application form + deposit secures place.
