Apart from trekking in Ladakh one can also indulge in other adventure activities such as mountain climbing and biking, safaris, water rafting etc. Also suavely called as the ‘Land of Passes’, the region forms the magnificent part of the state of Jammu & Kashmir.Ladakh is situated an altitude ranging between 2750 - 7672 meters, above sea level. The place is blessed with an amazing topography that comprises of hilly terrain, rocky cliffs, lush green grasslands and high altitude peaks. It offers a number of trekking tours for travellers and is one of main the reason that adventure fanatics from across the globe head to Ladakh. The land of high passes, snow clad mountains, azure blue lakes is among the world’s highest inhabited plateaus. Trekking in Ladakh offers a vast diversity with its unique landscape and exquisite culture, from the green oasis of the hidden Valleys and Plateaus with abundance of wildlife, nomads, wetlands, pastureland, fresh water springs, streams, and the famous lakes such as Tsomoriri, Tsokar & The Pangong. Culturally you will come across the remote villages and ancient monasteries of Ladakh and Zanskar, which are ideal ground for pilgrimage journeys, and these are the age-old pillars of Tibetan Buddhism.
JAIPUR:The Pink City is replete with historical landmarks that echo its past glory and living traditions. Discover palaces and forts, temples and gardens, crafts and pageantry here.
City Palace: Built by Sawai Jai Singh, it became the official seat of the Jaipur royal family after 1922. A large part of the brilliant palace is now a museum, displaying an excellent collection of artifacts used by the Rajput royalty.
Jantar Mantar: Built in 1728, it is one of Sawai Jai Singh's unique observatories. It has instruments that have been scientifically designed to predict the movement of the major stars accurately. It represents the high point of medieval Indian astronomy.
Amer Fort: It is one of the finest and the best preserved forts, having served as the royal capital for seven long years before the city of Jaipur was built. It has a complex of several palaces, meeting halls, pavilions, gardens and temples. The Fort was built in the later half of the 10th century by Raja Man Singh.
AGRA:
This historical city stands 200 km south of New Delhi, on the banks of river Yamuna. Over three centuries ago, it was a powerful Mughal capital and the most important city of northern India. It was at this time that Agra's many timeless architectural wonders were born: the wonderful Taj Mahal, the awesome Agra Fort, and the sprawling Sikandara - a whole city in itself.
Agra Fort : Built in red sand stone, it is the one of the famous sights of Agra other than Taj Mahal. The semi circular fort was started by Akbar in 1565, and completed in 1574.
Taj Mahal : The most photographed monument in the world, the Taj stands in its splendor of white marble, an imposing citadel on the banks of river Yamuna. Built in 17th century by Shah Jahan, the fifth Mughal emperor, in the memory of his wife Mumtaz Mahal, the Taj Mahal is an ode to the emperor's eternal love for his wife. It took over 20,000 skilled workers from across the country, working day and night, for 22 years for this architectural wonder to be created.
Fatehpur Sikri: 40 km from Agra, it is a city completely made of red sand stone. Built by Akbar and dedicated to a saint, Fatehpur Sikri was conceived in 1571. Worth visiting are the Jama Masjid, Salim Chisti's tomb, the Diwan-e-Aam, the Diwan-e-Khas and the Queen's palaces within the city.
Details Itinerary Below-
iDay 1:
Depart Dublin for Delhi with assistance on arrival. Transfer to hotel. Evening visit Delhi markets to experience the city of Delhi with a local guide. We will enjoy a group dinner in Gujarati, a traditional Indian restaurant.
Day 2:
Morning flight to Ladakh from Delhi.
Arrive in Leh, the capital city of Ladakh (3500 metres) with spectacular views of the Himalayan range. Transfer to hotel. A gentle evening walk to Shanti Stupa and Leh Palace to enjoy the views of Leh and Stok Khangri Peak, and experience the sunset from Stupa.
Day 3 & 4:
We will explore Leh, starting the day at Thiksey monastery forLama monks prayer. Following this will be a trip to the Dalai Lama Palace, with every chance to experience a blessing. We will also visit the Women's Alliance, Leh, Ladakh and see the great work they are doing tp preserve the handicraft skills of Ladakhi women. If possible we will take part in a Ladakhi skills workshop.
Next day, we will have a choice of activities, mountain biking on Khardung La - The world's highest motorable road optional or for a more chilled experience, take a day tour to Pengong lake. Free evening.
Day 5:
We meet with the Trekking team, the horseman, cook and guides and prepare for our Lamayuru to Chilling trek. We will have the opportunity to purchase any essentials for the trek. An evening briefing by guide Mohan and local guide Pasang Sherpa about the route, rules, food, altitude, history, Buddhism, tent and equipment and share some local stories.
Day 6 - First Day of Trek
Leh to Lamayuru (3510 metres, 150kms by jeep)
Drive to Lamayuru by jeep, en route visit Liker and Alchi Monasteries. That evening we will walk one hour to Moonland, the biggest attraction in Lamayuru.
Overnight stay is in camp or Guest House in Lamayuru.
Day 7
Lamayuru to Wanla (3700m / 9kms, 4 hours)
Walk down along the stream towards east and then cross the stream near Chorten. Walk along another stream towards southward and then
east up to the Prikiting La (3700m).
The trail also leads to Zangskar via Snigutse La where we cross the river to reach the campsite.
Day 8:
Wanla to Hinju (3900metres, 9kms, 4/5 hours)
Leave Wanla for Hinju after breakfast while enjoying amazing views of the mountains and narrow gorges as we head for Hinju village. Overnight stay in Hinju Village.
Day 9:
Hinju to Sumda Chenmo (4900 metres, 11kms, 5/6 hours)
Proceed towards Sumda Chenmo via Konski La. From there you can enjoy the views of the back route from Pirkiti La. The Valley across the Kanski La has a few shepherd huts where butter and cheese are made. Overnight in Campsite.
Day 10 & 11
Sumda Chenmo to Dundunchan La Base
(5000 metres, 13kms, 6 hours)
On this penultimate day of our trek, we follow the trail toDundunchan La along Sumda chun, a remote part of the Himalayahs. Overnight in Campsite.
Next morning, our final day of trek - Dundunchan La to Chilling to Leh (4700 metres, 13kms, 7 hours)
We will enjoy unforgettable views from Dundunchan La as our trail leads to Chilling village where the Zanskar River follows towardsNimo village.
We can choose to do the world famous white water rafting in Zanskar River. That evening we will take a jeep back to Leh (2 hours drive) and check into a hotel.
Day 12:A day for rest and relaxation.
That evening enjoy Ladakhi folk dance by the campfire and celebrate with some beers and meet other travelers from around the world.
Day 13:
Early morning flight to Delhi on arrival there will be a jeep waiting to take us to Agra Fort which is situated in the city of Agra, also home of the Taj Mahal. We will spend the day sight seeing and later check in to a hotel and spend the night in Agra. There will be plenty of time for shopping and exploring the city.
Day 14 & 15:
Day trip to the Taj Mahal
This will be a very early morning 05:30 to avoid the 1000's of tourists after 8am, we will be able to experience the sunrise over the Taj Mahal, one of the 7 wonders of the world.
After visiting the Taj Mahal we will take the train to Jaipur (3h 13 min, 235 km) aka "Pink City".
We will reach Jaipur that afternoon, check in to hotel and spend the evening visiting local markets.
Next morning, a Guided Tour of Jaipur - the capital of Rajasthanwas given a color coat
of pink a century ago in honor of a visiting Prince and ever since, it has retained this color. Built by Maharaja Jai Singh, the notable astronomer, this city is 260 years old. Visit Maharaja's City Palace, the Observatory & Ram Niwas Gardens. Overnight in Jaipur.
Day 16 & 17:
Fly back to Delhi, check into hotel. You will have free time here for any shopping etc. We will celebrate the end of our Himalayan Adventure together before flying back to Dublin the following morning.
